PRIMAVERA BY SANTANA

On March 20th, the spring equinox restores the balance between day and night before the light begins to linger a little longer each day. For centuries, calendars and cultures around the world have marked this shift as an opportunity to plant both metaphorical and literal seeds.

Primavera, by the San Franciscan band Santana, feels like the first real day of spring. As the song puts it, “Como la semilla / Lleva nueva vida / Hay en esta primavera una nueva era” (”Like the seed / Brings new life / There is in this spring a new era”). With warm guitar melodies and Latin rhythms, the song conveys a sense of hope and reminds us that there is always another chance to begin again.
