NEW YORK, I LOVE YOU

In celebration of Zohran Mamdani being sworn in as NYC’s mayor today, we’re featuring New York, I Love You — an American take on the 2006 original Paris, Je’Taime. This anthology film consists of vignettes by eleven directors that capture the city’s everyday layers and living histories. The second segment, which stars Irrfan Khan and Natalie Portman, is directed by Mamdani’s mother, the legendary Mira Nair. An icon of global cinema, Nair’s work has reshaped how diasporas, love, and belonging are portrayed on screen. New York, I Love You, speaks to the creative and political lineage that has helped shape a city we deeply cherish.
