POSTED BY KASHMIRI TEA HOUSE:

If you've ever asked yourself: "where can I hang out in LA at night to chill, have tea/snacks and enjoy good company while ALSO hearing friends drop knowledge bombs?"

Answer: at the Kashmiri Tea House Diaspora Dispatches Nerd Talks!

She's BACK with another late-night lounge full of bottomless chai, delicious food & this time - we're heading to outer-space!

We're leaning into the "third culture kid" talent pool again on Saturday September 12th for the 2nd edition of "nerd talks."

Nerd Talk 1: From Earth to orbit: Rethinking reproductive health

Drawing on the history of reproductive health research, persistent knowledge gaps, and the emerging realities of human spaceflight, Operation Period founder and upcoming research astronaut Manju examines how studying the body in extreme environments can challenge long-held assumptions, reveal new questions, and inspire better science both in space and on Earth.

Nerd Talk 2: Space: The trillion dollar economy you can't see

Space touches nearly every aspect of our daily lives, from GPS on our phones to data transmission every time we use google. It's the research laboratory that has led to the creation of products from microwaves to memory foam and freeze-dried foods. Ateet will give us an investor's peek into how and why the "space economy" is rapidly accelerating this decade.

Nerd Talk 3: The Art of the Cosmos

Long before telescopes and space probes, ancient cultures across the world looked up at the night sky and answered what they saw through art. Islamic artists wove mathematics and cosmological philosophy into geometric patterns, manuscripts, and ornamentation within the great institutes of learning of the time. On the other side of the planet, ancestral Puebloans in Chaco Canyon recorded and painted a supernova blazing in their sky, a phenomenon we see today as the Crab Nebula. Through these and other examples, NASA JPL systems engineer and artist Rishi Verma will take you on a wild ride across the world and through time, tracing how ancient cosmological art connects to what our modern instruments reveal today.

What can you expect on the night?

7 pm: Doors open for bottomless Kashmiri Rose Kahwa & Pink Nun Chai & tasty treats

8 - 9 pm: Our brilliant speakers will each drop knowledge-bombs on a hyper-niche and "nerdy" topic.

Rest of the night: Chatting, chai and good vibes

I can't wait to welcome you for an evening of chai, vibes and 3 short "nerd-talks" from across the LA diaspora.
